Model Introduction
The Grady-White 225 Dual Console is a very popular, good-selling model. The reason for its success is apparent after spending some time onboard""the versatile layout, enclosed head, excellent ride and handling, and a becoming economy of operation combine to make this a compelling family-friendly day boat. The dual console arrangement makes the 225 DC well suited for both fishing and day cruising, and compared to its near cousin, the bowrider, it offers low maintenance, fishability and a self-bailing cockpit. The boat is easily trailerable behind a pickup or large SUV, with the whole rig coming in at around 4,800 lbs., plus any gear and fuel in the boat.

Construction
The Grady-White 225 Dual Console has a solid fiberglass hull bottom and hull sides with a supporting stringer and bulkhead system of pressure-treated plywood (which comes with a lifetime warranty) encapsulated in fiberglass. Limberholes are cut through solid glass to prevent water absorption into the core. Plywood is used to core the transom, which is also supported by aluminum bracing, and the decks and the hull-to-deck joint are sealed with a gasket and sealant and fastened with a mix of stainless screws and rivets. Foam injected in the voids between the hull and deck liner makes the boat unsinkable.

Hull Design
The Grady-White 225 Dual Console hull is a C. Raymond Hunt and Associates design. It has a deep entry and high chines forward that produce a smooth headsea ride and transitioning to approximately 20° of deadrise at the transom. A warped bottom, with deadrise decreasing gradually all the way to the transom (called SeaV2 by Grady-White), produces greater lift aft and a more level ride on plane, resulting in improved propulsion efficiency, compared to constant deadrise hulls, as well as improved sightlines ahead from the helm. Chine flats add lift and deflect spray on plane and form stability at rest.
