1. Find a photo printer that fits your budget
Identify how much you are willing to spend on a photo printer, then prioritize the features that you want in your printer.
2. Assure compatibility with your camera/memory card
Some printers can directly connect to certain digital cameras or print directly from a memory card, eliminating the need to hook them up to a computer. If this is important to you, make certain your digital camera is directly compatible.
3. Assess the print quality and speed of the printer
Printers differ in how fast they can print out photos and in the quality of the printout. If possible, be sure to test the printer and decide whether or not you are happy with the picture quality before purchasing.
4. Decide on the appropriate printer size and portability
Before purchasing your printer, decide whether you want a printer that will stay in one spot or one that you can carry with you for immediate printing capabilities. Additionally, it is important to consider the photo sizes you would like to print. Some printers may only output smaller print sizes" 4x6, 5x7, etcetera. There may be trade-offs in other areas (compatibility, speed, quality or price) to attain the printer that best fits your needs.
5. Make sure the printer is easy for you to utilize
Before you commit to buying a photo printer, be sure you have some idea of how it works. Ask the salesperson for a demonstration or perform research online prior to making your final purchase decision.
